This week, cred is celebrating its second annual Wellness Week. Wellness can be represented in many different ways. From homemade smoothies, to virtual workouts, to meditation classes, there are many possibilities to make sure you are investing in your individual wellbeing. Outside of the workplace, many of us are practicing wellness from the comfort of our own homes—and our own phones.
We’ve put together a list of apps that have helped us exercise wellness in varying areas of our lives. Whether you're still socially distanced or back to life as it was, here are some apps to support you in sustaining personal wellness, regardless of circumstance.
Getting up & being active.
Nike Run Club
Whether you were a cross-country star in high school or are new to the running game, Nike Run Club will help you keep track of your runs and, for the less athletically inclined, may even convert you into a runner with its guided run features. Grab a few friends and create a challenge in the app to stay connected and get your crew on their feet!
Finding your center.
Wellness Coach
A cred favorite, Wellness Coach is your one-stop shop for meditation, guided sleep, and workout plans. From live meditation classes to workouts guided by Olympians such as Lindsey Vonn, the app offers features that are one-of-a-kind. Check out the bedtime story “A Calm Tour of Cologne” for peaceful visuals of Germany that are sure to send you right to sleep!
Wim Hof Method
Cold shower, anyone? For those who are up to more of an extreme wellness challenge, the Wim Hof Method is built on the three pillars of breathing, cold therapy, and commitment. Wim Hof believes that when combined, these pillars can increase energy, focus, and creativity, amongst other benefits. In the app you’ll find guided breathing exercises, cold water challenges, and e-learning opportunities.
Changing the day-to-day.
Habit Tracker
Looking to form a new habit or even break an old one? Look no further than Habit Tracker. Habit Tracker will help you keep track of any patterns in your life, and check-in with you daily to see if you’ve completed what you set out to do. Do you work better with an accountability partner? Form a “group” with a friend or two and conquer your habit goals together.
Day One
Journaling is known to be one of the most traditional outlets for sorting through emotions, helping folks make sense of what’s going on in their lives and minds. No pen and paper? No problem. Day One is a digital journal kept discreetly on your phone. With options for photos, voice recordings, and written entries, Day One is a great starting point for fostering emotional wellness anywhere you go.
Moment - Screen Time Control
Feeling fatigued from screen time and social media? You’re not alone. It can be tough to resist turning to Instagram in your downtime. Moment is a screen time control app that tracks how many times you pick up your phone and what percentage of the day you’ve spent on it. The app also features “courses” that helps users break unhealthy habits around their phone usage, and understand why our phones so consistently capture our attention.
What are your tried and true apps for sustaining your own wellness journey? We’d love to hear them in the comments or on Twitter (@cred_sf)!
