Last week, a record-breaking 35,562 attendees took to Toronto from 130 countries worldwide to experience “The Olympics of Tech,” Collision 2022. The event is one of the largest tech events in North America, featuring multiple stages, themes and tracks over the course of three days.
People were clearly eager to reunite in-person, as the event was completely sold out, making it the largest tech event in Canada since the start of the pandemic.
This year’s agenda featured leaders from the tech and media world, including Tope Awotona, Founder & CEO of Calendly, Carolyn Childers, Co-founder & CEO of Chief, Chris Best, Co-founder & CEO of Substack, Thomas Dohmke, CEO of GitHub, Edith Harbaugh, Co-founder & CEO of LaunchDarkly, Michele Romanow, Co-founder & CEO of Clearco, Gavin Wood, Founder of Polkadot and many more.
One highlight for those who couldn’t attend in person was that all Centre Stage sessions were streamed for free—a few highlights include:
Nicolas Cary, Co-founder & Vice Chairman at Blockchain.com, discussed how Blockchain Will Shape the Future of Everything.
Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, shared his tips on How to Regulate Cryptocurrencies
Alex Bouaziz, Co-founder & CEO of Deel, discussed Is the Remote Revolution Coming to an End?
In a fireside chat, Gavin Jackson, CEO, Oxbotica spoke with Meagan Simpson from Betakit about the path to a self-driving future, and how autonomous vehicles might change personal and commercial mobility.
CEO of the Toronto International Film Festival, Cameron Bailey, took Centre Stage to discuss How to Tell a Story That Impacts your Audience.
Thoughworks CTO, Rebecca Parsons spoke on Developing Tech that is Private, Equitable, and Inclusive.
Other highlights - PITCH:
Pitch competitions are common at conferences, but Collision's start-up competition, PITCH, is unique.
Over 1,557 startups with less than $5 million in funding competed for the opportunity to take the stage Over the next three days, 56 startups from around the globe pitched to a panel of judges to establish a name for their company and become the next big thing. And the winner is . . . DOT - Mind Unlocked!
Overall, Collision was an amazing return to in-person events. Planning for Collision 2023 has already commenced and we’re eagerly awaiting the new ideas, learning, and networking that Collision brings.
