June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month, which is dedicated to the celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. Rooted in community and equality, the first official Pride march event was held on June 28, 1970, the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.
We now see LGBTQ+ events happening year-round, helping individuals in those communities feel more seen and understood by the larger population. A recent report found that 60% of this marginalized community continues to face workplace discrimination due to their identity. By elevating LGBTQ+ voices and bringing more awareness to the challenges they face, we can help make an equitable and inclusive tech industry.
In honor of Pride Month, we’re highlighting 10 events focused on empowering LGBTQ+ individuals in tech. With leading LGBTQ+ speakers and allies, these events are a powerful way to elevate the stories of this community and explore the challenges and opportunities they face in the tech industry.
