How AI is Changing the Events Industry

As we approach the end of the year, cred is reflecting on the trends that shaped the events space in 2023, and there’s a very clear takeaway: AI has impacted all facets of the industry. From using AI to streamline and enhance event planning processes to witnessing a massive influx of topics being covered around the technology, let’s examine the effects of artificial intelligence on the industry from all angles.

Planning events with AI
In a recent survey by Convene, researchers found more than 50% of event professionals are now using AI in some form in their work. For event planners, AI has emerged as a powerful tool to predict patterns in attendee behavior, create engaging content for agendas, and enhance and tailor the speaker and attendee experience. Leveraging AI to craft content
As pitch writers and content creators, we’re always looking for new tools and innovations to help improve our writing skills and streamline our processes. We’ve researched and employed numerous platforms this year in the content space, including:

  • ChatGPT - for pitch writing, event research, content creation

  • Copy.ai - for pitch writing and content creation

  • Grammarly - for proof writing

  • QuillBot - for proof writing

  • Gamma - for slide/presentation creation

The rise of AI specific events
In addition to established conferences like AI Summit New York and World Summit AI, we saw a significant increase in inaugural events dedicated solely to artificial intelligence, such as Cerebral Valley AI Summit, The AI Conference, and TED AI (read our recap of the event and learn how cred helped plan behind the scenes here). We expect to see an even greater number of events pop up in 2024 – check out our credTen: Top AI Events in 2023 & 2024 to stay in the loop!

AI topics dominating agendas
Industry conferences across retail, marketing, finance, health, climate, sustainability, future of work, and more all saw an influx of topics and tracks being created to address how AI is impacting their industries and line of work. We’re also now seeing our speakers explore topics around:

  • How AI is Affecting the Retailer-Brand Relationship – Ben Mand, CEO of Harmless Harvest

  • AI in Urban Planning for Sustainable Cities - Manik Suri, CEO & Founder of Therma

  • Unlocking the Power of Generative AI in Digital Healthcare – Cathy Gao, Partner at Sapphire Ventures

  • How AI is Changing Marketing Without Losing the Human Touch – Erik Huberman, CEO & Founder of Hawke Media

The future of the events industry is undeniably intertwined with the continued development and integration of artificial intelligence. Keep an eye on the credBlog as we continue to monitor and cover advancements in the space!
