For our fifth credWebinar, we’re tackling a timely subject: hiring during COVID-19. To help us understand more about how to hire effectively during this time, we brought in Vivek Ravisankar, CEO & Founder of HackerRank; Wayne Huang, Head of Engineering at Tophatter; and Erika Thorson-Garay, Head of Global Talent Acquisition at LiveRamp, to tackle this subject. During this lively 45-minute panel discussion, they dove into topics like how to effectively shift your technical recruitment strategies from in-person to virtual, the tools and platforms you need to streamline recruitment, on-boarding processes, and much more.
Here are a few key insights from this panel discussion:
Wayne believes that what gives candidates confidence in signing with your company for a remote role is explaining to them what systems and tools you have in place, and a detailed plan of what your on-boarding plan will look like.
For a successful virtual on-boarding process experience, Erika went in-depth into LiveRamp’s on-boarding process, OnRamp. She discussed how they’ve worked with managers to ensure all new remote hires feel a part of the team through virtual team meetings and fun activities, as well as assigning new hires a buddy to help out with any questions they might have.
Vivek discussed how due to COVID-19 the purpose and structure of the onsite interview will change. He believes moving forward onsite interviews will be more about the candidate experiencing your work, culture, and team, rather than coming in for more technical interviews—which will be done remotely.
