We had the opportunity to work on the inaugural URx Global Leaders Summit last week—a curated virtual summit for university recruiting leaders. URx is an ecosystem which brings together all sides of the university recruiting industry. They are under the umbrella of OneReq, whose mission is to build a diverse & inclusive workforce for everyone. We were thrilled to work with such teams who strive to make inclusivity a priority.
The Summit, hosted on Hopin, was packed with interaction, collaboration, and engagement—not to mention it crushed its registration goal. As you might have guessed, the 2020 fall recruiting season was like no other, so speakers and attendees from some of today’s top brands came together to discuss their lessons learned & best practices.
The Summit focused on four main areas: Diversity & Inclusion, Team, Cross-Functional Partnership, and Strategy, Scale & Growth. Presenting Sponsor Cappfinity, the world leader in strengths-based assessment, was the perfect candidate to open the event with a keynote session on “Accelerating Change.” During their presentation, Cappfinity Co-Founder Nicky Garcea, Accenture Candidate Experience Lead Jada Green, and NY Times Bestseller & Multigenerational Workplace Expert Lindsey Pollack, discussed how companies could most benefit from the feedback given in the first wave of the new virtual recruitment era.
Throughout the two-day conference, presentations and panel-like discussions took on topics like “Designing a Winning Remote Internship Experience” and “Crafting a Blueprint for the Future.” The neat thing that set the URx Leaders Summit apart from other conferences was that the real goal of every single session was sharing and engagement. Once the presentation or panel section was done, attendees were invited to share their video and join in the wider group roundtable experience. University recruiting within a company can be isolating, so the team behind URx and OneReq wanted to capitalize on the rare opportunity to brainstorm with industry peers.
A unique factor of this conference was their inclusion of student perspectives. There were three sessions with college-aged speakers, focused on their experience and feedback from this unprecedented year, allowing university recruiters to step into the shoes of soon-to-be graduates from Colgate, UPenn, and Stanford (just to name a few) who have been on the other side of university recruiting.
University leaders from Airbnb, Netflix, Uber, Bose, USAA, Twitch, and more enjoyed their time networking and generating ideas for 2021 & beyond. It was really special to be a part of an event that has really been so successful in forming such a strong community. Speakers and attendees were seen sharing a joke or saying hello again to their colleagues in the chat and on video, having worked together or met previously at another URx or OneReq summit in past years.
Powerful insights were shared and best practices created. The Summit was definitely a hit and we look forward to continuing our work with the OneReq and URx teams!
