Multi-tasking is a valuable and necessary skill within any industry—especially the fast-paced conferences and events industry. Chrome extensions are an easy way to keep things organized and efficient to increase productivity and efficiency. We’re sharing five of our all-time favorite extensions below!
Todoist
One of our office fan-favorite extensions is Todoist. Todoist allows you to easily organize tasks, assign deadlines, and view upcoming tasks at an easy glance. As event planners (and professional multi-taskers) it’s not uncommon to have to-dos constantly popping into your mind while working on another task. Having your to-do list easily accessible at the click of a button on any webpage reduces the chance of losing sight of that task. Another amazing feature allows you to convert and save emails, webpages/articles, and Google Docs as tasks. You can highlight text directly in an email, webpage, etc, right-click and add text as a task Todoist without even opening the extension.
Toggl
Ever find yourself heads down on a task, without glancing at the time, only to find hours have flown by on a single assignment? Toggl will help you easily track how much time you’re spending on tasks, which in turn, will help forecast how long certain things may take you in the future. This is a great tool to implement if you’re looking to improve time management.
Evernote Web Clipper
This extension is especially handy when stumbling upon an article or webpage that you want to save for easy reference or future reading material. This will prevent you from getting off task or leaving extra tabs or windows open, which can easily add up and cause distraction and disorganization. Think of the Evernote Web Clipper as an enhanced bookmark manager with bonus features such as annotating and saving the clipped content for an offline view—great for anyone with a long commute on the bus or train!
Google Keep
Google Keep is an amazing replacement for a traditional notebook—not only does it help you save notes, but you also can feel good about saving trees! Similar to Evernote, you can save URLs, texts, and images. In the event industry, we find it helpful to keep notes for quick reference while on any webpage or as a virtual sticky note to quickly jot down notes.
Google Calendar
This extension is great if you find yourself constantly opening your Google Calendar or leaving your calendar open on a tab for easy reference. The Google Calendar extension allows you one-click access to a preview of your calendar. If you sync your tasks/Todoist to your calendar it’s also a helpful tool to see what tasks you have coming up to make sure you’re on track. The extension icon also displays a countdown (i.e. 2h) to your next upcoming event or task which can also help with improving your time management.
