Event Spotlight: Collision 2024

This year marked the end of an era as Web Summit held its Collision Conference in Toronto for the final time, drawing more than 37,000 attendees from 117 countries. Since its debut in 2014, Collision has become the fastest-growing technology event in North America, bringing together tech enthusiasts, policymakers, business leaders, and industry experts.

At cred, we’ve been fortunate to collaborate closely with Collision's team over the years and were thrilled to secure 17 speakers for this year’s program.

Attendees heard from 570 speakers including founders, creators, and venture capitalists like Geoffrey Hinton, the Godfather of AI, Jeff Shiner from 1Password, Raquel Urtasu from Waabi, Vinod Khosla from Khosla Ventures, Edward Hodge from BRC Imagination Arts, Ed Zitron from EZPR, Robert Brunner from Ammunition, Tamara Steffens from Thomson Reuters Ventures, and many more.

A few highlights from the three-day event include:

Andrew Beebe, Managing Director at Obvious Ventures spoke on a panel with Contrarian Ventures and DCVC about climate tech's trillion-dollar opportunity.

Mike Schroepfer, Founder & Partner at Gigascale Capital, and Manik Suri, CEO & Co-Founder of GlacierGrid contributed to a panel discussion about climate tech saving the world.

And many, many more incredible sessions, including:

  • Betsy Reed, Co-founder & President of CloudWerx gave a solo presentation on what it takes to build a winning culture.

  • Jai Das, President and Partner at Sapphire Ventures spoke with Marc Vartabedian from the Wall Street Journal about the new era in DefenseTech investing.

  • Karl Alomar, Managing Partner at M13 discussed what founders need from their first investor on a panel discussion with Startup Studio and Moderne Ventures.

Although this marks the final Collision conference, we can’t wait to see what’s in store as the Web Summit team launches a new era with Web Summit Vancouver in 2025.
