Memory Lane: Celebrating 9 Years of cred

This week, we celebrated our 9th birthday (or “crediversary,” as we lovingly call it). As a fully remote company, we took time to reflect on the inCREDible journey of the company by gathering for a virtual celebration hosted by our Culture Club—our internal team that curates events to enrich cred’s work culture.

We kicked off celebrations by hosting a series of virtual presentations about cred-specific topics. All presenters were instructed to keep presentations brief and, in the end, battled it out to claim one of three titles: Best Presentation, Best Topic, and Closest to 3 Minutes.

With 9 years under our belts, our team came with a series of interesting topics reflecting the many different memories at cred, including:

  • [Winner: Best Presentation] Playlists to Listen to While You Work: We shared our top playlists and songs for every credTask. Our Google Home would play constantly in our 49 Geary office and a few songs on repeat would be: Closer by The Chainsmokers, anything from ABBA, and of course a few Taylor Swift songs.

  • [Winner: Best Topic] Email Communications to Remember: In our line of work, we are emailing a lot! Our team shared snapshots of different communication styles, and ways to adapt.

  • The Snack Table of cred: At cred, we love to eat—whenever anyone starts their role at cred, we always make sure to ask about their favorite snacks, and coffee/tea/juice preferences. Fun fact: 59% of the team at cred identify as coffee addicts, 27% are tea lovers, and 4% are juicers. We shared our favorite lunch spots in San Francisco, such as Mendocino Farms, Proper Foods, Lemonade, Fresh Roll and happy hour at Uno Dos. In the office we would host our version of Cup Wars and show off how competitive we are at cred.

  • [Winner: Closest to 3 Minutes] A Walk Through cred’s (Latin) Roots: This discussion highlighted the Latin roots of the word cred, and how it means “believe and trust.” Bonus fact? The word “cred” in Scrabble will get you 7 points and 52 words. You’re welcome.

  • Founder Memories: Top 10 Key Moments: Our CEO and Founder Caitlin Bartley shared her top 10 memories, which included our first check earned as a company and evolution of the company since our start.

We had such an amazing time connecting as a team and walking down memory lane. Cheers to many more together as a team!
