Event 101: The Benefits of Hosting LinkedIn Events

With new event platforms popping up left and right over the past year, selecting the right one for your event can seem overwhelming. At cred, our event management team has seen the gamut of event platforms.

With so many options, it can be easy to overlook one of the most effective platforms right in front of us: LinkedIn Events. From accessibility to price, to function, we break down the perks of hosting your event on LinkedIn and some expert tips to ensure your own experience is a success.

Anyone can create a LinkedIn Event. - Whether from your member profile or as an Admin on your company’s page, anyone can become an organizer with total event oversight at their fingertips.

It’s budget-friendly. - As in, it’s free! You can say goodbye to buying a license, paying a fee per attendee or for extra features. LinkedIn Events is free with your existing LinkedIn membership.

Additional features such as paid ads or paying to boost your posts are available but everything you need to get your event up and running won’t cost you a dime.

All the networking features are built-in. - One of the most valuable pieces of any event is networking—and we know attendees are craving it now more than ever. In a virtual world, this becomes one of the most challenging pieces to replicate. Forget the platform integrations—event networking is built in! Once members have confirmed they will attend an event, they will be able to see, message, and connect with other attendees.

Your target audience is at your fingertips. - Gone are the days of culling through leads, connections, and previous event attendees only to upload one CSV after another to send your event invitations. Through LinkedIn Events, you can easily send an invitation to your followers and share with your connections in a few clicks.

  • Bonus: As the organizer, you can retain control over who attends your event. For a broad reach, a public event might be your best choice so that any LinkedIn member can view and attend. For more exclusivity, you can create a private event where you’ll be able to invite specific members and approve or deny any additional invitations.

You can go live… but plan ahead. - LinkedIn Live lets you easily live stream your event using a number certified streaming tools such as Restream or Socialive. If you’re planning to live stream, you must first apply for access and gain approval for LinkedIn Live. This can take up to several weeks, so be sure you’ve built in enough time for this wait.

Take reminders and updates off of your plate. - Leading up to your event, you can post updates to the event pages and push a notification to your attendees up to twice per week.

Once members indicate they plan to attend, LinkedIn takes care of sending reminders 7 days, 3 days, and 15 minutes prior to your event. If you’re using LinkedIn Live for your event, attendees will get a notification right when your event goes live. These reminders go to the notifications tab and the LinkedIn inbox, so you’re sure they won’t be missed!

As always, our team is here to help your event planning process at every step of the way. Whether expertly setting up your LinkedIn event or helping you create a hybrid event to celebrate the resurgence of in-person events, we can take your event to the next level!
