Carey Jenkins is CEO of Substantial, a world-class Digital Innovation + Build Studio, known for partnering with future-driven organizations to create meaningful, business-changing digital products and cultures.

Carey has spent almost 20 years leading large interdisciplinary teams and multi-channel projects. She started at Substantial as one of its first engagement managers, combining her expertise in client services, product strategy, and digital experiences. She was elevated to Director then VP of Client Services, leading both delivery and business development before being named CEO in June 2018.

Carey is passionate about the intersection of ethics and technology and deeply invested in fostering open dialogue about the influence technology has on our lives. She is committed to leading a technology company that is thoughtful and intentional about its people, products and community -- and is optimistic about the role digital innovation can play in solving some of society’s greatest challenges.

Carey, originally from Louisiana, spent formative years in New York and New Orleans before finding a home in Seattle over a decade ago. In addition to leading the Substantial team, she is a member of the advisory board for the University of Washington Bothell School of STEM, a program committed to serving and preparing underrepresented students for successful careers in science and technology. Outside of Substantial, Carey loves nothing more than being with her husband and their 6 year old daughter, Emerson.
